Grimmer is the fortieth episode of the anime.

Synopsis[]

Wolfgang Grimmer, a freelance journalist and former East German, investigates child abuse and psychological reprogramming in former East Germany orphanages.

Summary[]

Wolfgang Grimmer, a freelance journalist who is investigating about Kinderheim 511, meets with Tenma at the Dresden train station when both of them take a train to Prague. Grimmer and Tenma sit in the same compartment and talk about themselves. Border police comes to check their passports and Grimmer informs Tenma that the police knows his Japanese passport is fake.

Tenma jumps from the train and walks toward the border. Grimmer follows him and tells him that he knows who he is and that he has read about him in the papers. Grimmer tells Tenma that he can distinguish between someone who is guilty and someone wrongfully accused.

Grimmer and Tenma sit atop of a mountain and have a picnic with sandwiches, cheese and wine. Grimmer explains to Tenma the way to the Czech border and Tenma thanks Grimmer for his help.

In a cafe at Old Town Square, Prague, Grimmer meets Mikhail Petrov (whose real name is Reinhart Biermann), a former director of Kinderheim 511, before the tragedy. Grimmer interrogates Petrov about Kinderheim 511.
