Night of the Execution is the fourth episode of the anime. It covers the events of chapters 7 and 8 of the manga.
Plot
While investigating the couple murders, Inspector Lunge interrogates Adolf Junkers at the Eisler Memorial Hospital. When Junkers is asked who ordered him to commit the crimes, he has a panic attack.
Tenma tells Junkers about the time he saved Johan and explains that saving lives is a doctor's job. Junkers thanks Tenma for saving his life and tells a story about how much he wanted a mechanical clock as a child, so one day he tried to steal one from a store by picking the lock but was caught before he could get the clock.
Dr. Becker arranges a date for Tenma with the daugrher of a state legislator of North Rhine-Westphalia. On their way, Tenma sees a mechanical clock in a store and decides to buy it as a gift for Junkers.
Back at the hospital, Junkers decides that he wants to confess, but finds the policeman who was watching him dead. Tenma comes back to the hospital looking for Junkers, but finds out that the policeman is dead and that Junkers is gone.
Tenma follows Junkers to a building under construction. There he finds Junkers and Johan. Junkers is scared and tells how Johan ordered him and his comrades to do the killings. Tenma tries to persuade Johan from sparing Junkers life, but he fails.
Tenma tells Lunge how Johan killed Junkers, how nine years back, Johan also killed Dr. Heinemann, Dr. Oppenheim and Dr. Boyer using poisoned candy and how he is been plotting all the couple murders.
